New Wood Carved Small Characters
Here is a follow up post to show my last two wood carved small characters completed. In my off times, I have been working on a miniature man that has his hand out to accept a handshake. I also have been working on a small “spud” type man that is inspired by the Woodbee Carver way of carving with only a knife. I really enjoy doing small characters and find myself coming back to them over and over again just to look at them. It is amazing how much different, yet complete they look after the paint has dried.
Each carving project that you complete will feed your future abilities to reference your mistakes and improvements. Growing up, you probably always hear that “Practice Makes Perfect”. It really is true, that the more that you carve the better you will carve. Carving is meant to be a trial and error process in search of that perfect carving. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes. Grab your carving knife and piece of wood and see what your mind transfers to your hands to carve.
