Hi George,
I don't have any experience with Malaluca trees, but I would venture to say that once they are dry, you can apply your desired finish to not only seal the wood, but to also add the desired amount of shine and/or color. I did a quick search about them and if I found the correct trees, they have paper like bark.

My best advise would be to take a small piece and strip the bark off or prepare as you plan to prepare your project and let it dry out. Then test some different finishes on it. I don't see anything about it that would cause you to have to do anything special, but again I haven't work with Malaluca before.

Good luck and let me know what you find out.

Hi,
I have some walking sticks made from Malaluca trees and I was wondering if I have to do anything different to them as far as a finish and do I have to wait until it is completely dry before I can finish it.
Any tips on drying would be great

             Thanks George
