If you are like me, you enjoy everything about baseball. Whether it’s watching the game, looking at statistics, or collecting baseball cards, I enjoy it all. Several years ago, I started acquiring autographs from major league baseball players through the mail. I have always been partial to the St. Louis Cardinals, therefore, my focus was on Cardinals players. Over the course of about 2 years (1993-1995), I sent off about 20 cards to be signed and was successful on 14 of them. I got sidetracked and started exploring other hobbies.
Near the end of the 2008 season, I began to think about my past success with obtaining autographs. I wondered if players still signed through the mail and searched online for the updated team addresses. During my search, I found a few other sites about “through the mail” autographs and decided to give it another try.
How to Get Baseball Autographs by Mail
Participating in autographs by mail is a great project for fans of all ages. All it takes to get started is the baseball card of your chosen player, address of player, ink pen, piece of notebook paper, two envelopes, 2 stamps, and a hard plastic case (not required but recommended).
Address first envelope to the player of your choice. Be sure to include your own address in the return field of the envelope. Now address the second envelope to yourself in both of the address areas (be sure to place a stamp on both envelopes. Place your baseball card in the plastic case and write a short note to the player, letting them know that you are a fan and would value their signature on the enclosed baseball card. Now place the note, card (in hard case), and second envelope inside the first envelope addressed to the player. Seal the envelope and mail it. Now just sit back and relax while the card is delivered to the player and they have the opportunity to respond.
I have successfully received 20 baseball cards back with signatures on them.

Autograph Successes
When I decided to send off a few cards to see if I could get a few more autographs, I chose six baseball personalities that had already retired. All six cards were sent by US Mail on January 3, 2009. Here is a list of the cards and their return date:

Whitey Herzog January 10

Tom Brunansky January 20

John Mabry January 20

Dave Dravecky February 1

Tom Herr February 15

Rex Hudler March 5

Ok so I am thinking about removing my website from Tumbler and get it to a WordPress website. I believe this is a wordpress website right? If it is, may I ask where you got the theme? Thanks a bunch!
Yes this site is a WordPress site. I use the Suffusion theme and it can be found for free through a simple Google search. Just google “Suffusion” and it should appear.
